The Mumbai Regional Centre of the IIChE, organized panel discussion on “Perspective and Growth Opportunities for Chemical Industries in the Framework of Make In India Policy” at the Orchid Hotel, Vile Parle (E), Mumbai on 25th Nov 2015. The panelists included eminent chemical engineers & the past presidents of IIChE of Mumbai Region/ chairmen of MRC who have excelled in their field. The event brought together about 90 participants from academia, research institutes & industry Padmavibhushan Prof. M M Sharma, Fellow of Royal Society & Emeritus Prof. of ICT, Mumbai in the presence of dignitaries inaugurated the event. The dignitaries on dais were: Prof. G D Yadav, Vice Chancellor, ICT, Mumbai, Shri Sushil Kumar, President, GMS, Reliance Industries Ltd., Shri K Venkataramanan, Former CEO & MD, Larsen &Toubro India, Shri D P Misra, Former Director General, Indian Chemical Council, Dr. Arun Dravid, Chairman Emeritus, Jacobs Engg. India, Shri A K Saxena, Chairman, BCPL, former Scientist, BARC & Shri P D Samudra, MD, ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions (India). Following panel discussion, there was question & answer session where audience clarified their queries by asking questions to panelists. The past chairmen, representatives of national council of IIChE & CHEMCON-2015 were felicitated by presenting memento. Mr. D M Butala, vice president of IIChE national council, expressed his view by saying younger generation will add new molecules & fulfill dream of Make in India project. The event concluded with cultural evening with Dr. Pandit Arun Dravid from 7.45 to 9 pm. All the participants enjoyed the musical concert on raga: ragyaman, malkauns & Bhajans of Tulsidas by Dr. Pandit Arun Dravid & his team.
